Update!

I went running sometime last week for 1.5 miles. I don't remember it being either a great run or a poor one, but considering I didn't go for 2 miles, I'm going to say it wasn't the best.

I did, however, have the most fantastic workout and run today thanks to my new shoes! I got some new Nike Motos and they are serving me much better than beat to hell Nike Airs from 4 years ago. These new shoes have so much more support and really fit my feet significantly better. I fell in love with them today when I took them out for their very first run. I was able to run 3 miles with no pain! I can't remember the last time that happened, and considering how slack I've been lately, it certainly isn't due to muscle gain. Thank you, thank you, thank you Nike (and to the lovely man who bought me these shoes)!

Miles from last week: 1.5 miles
Miles ran today: 3 miles

80.5 miles to go!

Also, I may abandon this blog since my Nike Motos have Nike+ in them and will allow me to track my progress better. We'll see though.

Update

My run today was pretty good. My knee is feeling great, as well, which is definitely a perk. I will admit my calves are a little sore, but that's nothing I can't deal with. I'm pretty happy about how the run went though. I think the calf issue maybe had to do with the pace or the fact that I ran outside and it was kind of chilly. I really enjoy running solo, but I feel like when I go running with someone, I don't let myself make excuses and slow down. So that's a plus. But anyway....

Feeling Amazing!

Yesterday's run was probably the best I've had in months! Honestly, it has probably since November of last year that I felt so good after a run. I'm sure plenty of people have a lot of trouble getting back into running after a break, but I must admit that I'm happy I pushed myself back into it because it's been going wonderfully. I was able to run 2 miles at a slightly faster pace than normal, and I felt no aches or pains afterwards (usually I feel some tension in my knees). I'm starting to feel stronger and better, and I can't wait to see and feel more improvements over the next few months. I hope to at least run a 5k sometime this summer or year, and depending on how I'm holding up, I may be able to push myself to a 10k, but that all depends on the condition of the knee, of course.

I definitely felt like I could more than 2 miles yesterday, but I knew I was going to be going running today and tomorrow (and at least one time with a friend of mine) and I didn't want to push my luck. Updates to come.

Feeling Better

I feel like I'm finally starting to get back in shape. I was doing all this running before. I know it doesn't seem like I was running very much, but I clearly am not in top notch running condition. Good news is that I am finally feel pretty comfortable running in 2 mile increments right now. I have a little soreness, but we're doing good. I WILL ACCOMPLISH MY GOAL!! haha

Thursday: 2 miles

Miles to go: 89

(This goal actually seems like it's going to be much easier to achieve than I initially thought, but we'll see how it goes)

After some terrible shin splints (I really need some new running shoes soon), I was out of commission for a while. Never fear, I'm back and ready to fight through my knee and lung problems to get going again.

New Goals

Oh hey, world. I've decided to take on a new goal (because getting "hotter" just didn't seem realistic enough haha). My new goal is to run at least 100 miles between now (March 9, 2011) until December 31, 2011. I may add additional goals later on (biking a certain distance, etc...) if I'm doing well. This is obviously body-permitting because I have a bum knee & lung (wooo). So here we go!

Miles ran: 1.5
Miles cycled: 3

98.5 miles to go

≈300 Calories burned :]
